The Hollybush Circular is a challenging 8.5-mile (14 km) loop beginning from Gala Policies, a quiet parkland on the outskirts of Galashiels. The route follows part of the Southern Upland Way, crossing rolling farmland before descending back toward the town. You'll then walk alongside the River Tweed, enjoying riverside views and varied scenery. Expect a total climb and descent of around 1,500 feet (460 m), with field paths, tarmac, minor roads, as well as stiles and steps. It’s a rewarding hike best suited for fit walkers prepared for mixed terrain and steady effort.
