Gala Circuit Walk
11 minute walk from Galashiels station · Edinburgh and South East · Free entry

The Gala Circuit is a challenging 17-mile (28 km) circular hike that showcases the beauty of the Borders. Starting around Gala Policies, a peaceful woodland park on the edge of town, the route follows parts of the Southern Upland Way and climbs Neidpath Hill, where you’ll find old stone cairns and fine vistas. The trail continues through Clovenfords (once a vineyard village), Ladhope Moor, and Langlee Woodland, taking in varied terrain—including forest, moor, farmland, and minor roads. With almost 3,200 ft (970 m) of ascent and descent, it’s a rewarding but demanding route, best suited to fit walkers.
