Sanquhar Golf Course
18 minute walk from Sanquhar station · South West
Sanquhar Golf Club is a quality 9-hole course set in the rolling hillsides of northern Dumfries & Galloway. This attractive parkland course lies in undulating fields above the River Nith, nestling in typical Southern Upland scenery where the hills rise toward the massive Lowthers.
The course is significant for its historic location near Sanquhar and its signature 6th hole, "Wull’s Cairn." This pleasing par 3 challenges players to hit from an elevated tee over a dip to a bunker-surrounded green. While it offers challenging par 4s, it remains accessible for families and beginners.
Visitors can enjoy superb views of the countryside and the upper reaches of the Euchan Valley from the welcoming clubhouse. Booking is usually not necessary, making it an excellent choice for a spontaneous round. You can even pair a visit here with the nearby Thornhill course for a full 27-hole experience.
