Monifieth Sands
2 minute walk from Monifieth station · Dundee, Aberdeen and North East · Free entry

Monifieth Sands is a coastal area situated on the north bank of the Firth of Tay in Angus, Scotland. Located on relatively flat land to the west of the Buddon Ness, these sands sit within a sheltered estuary.
The area is steeped in history, particularly from the 18th century when the local economy depended on agriculture and weaving. At low tide, the sands served as a vital landing point for cargo. Because the town had no harbour, vessels would off-load goods here to be transported to nearby destinations by horse-drawn vehicles.
Visitors today can enjoy the coastal scenery of the Firth of Tay. The surrounding landscape has links to the early medieval period.
