Barony A Frame

The Barony A Frame is a preserved headgear located in East Ayrshire, Scotland. Standing 180 feet high, this massive structure was built in 1954 as part of the modernisation of the Barony Colliery, a site that originally opened in 1907.
As a category B listed structure, it is significant for being the last remaining example of its type in Britain. Following the colliery's closure, the A-frame was restored by a dedicated trust and officially reopened by Prince Charles in 2008.
Visitors can view a unique piece of industrial history that underwent a million-pound refurbishment. It serves as a striking landmark representing the heritage of the former generating station and water-treatment works.
