Verdant Works is a former 19th-century jute mill in Dundee that now serves as Scotland’s Jute Museum. This award-winning 5-star attraction is a rare surviving courtyard-type mill of national architectural importance. Officially opened as a museum in 1996, it is dedicated to the textile industry that once dominated the city's economy.
Visitors can explore the historic High Mill, the oldest part of the complex, which has been restored into an open gallery. The site offers a glimpse into the lives of the 50,000 workers who once powered the industry. You will see original machinery, technical drawings, and a vast collection of jute products that tell the story of how Dundee once supplied the world's demand for textiles.
