The Mackintosh Church, Queen's Cross

The Mackintosh Church at Queen’s Cross is a former parish church in Glasgow and the only completed church designed by the renowned architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh. Commissioned in 1896 for a corner plot, this historic site now serves as the home of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society.

The building is famous for its "Modern Gothic" style, featuring a squat main tower modelled after one in Somerset. Inside, visitors can admire a striking timber-lined barrel-vaulted roof and a pulpit carved with bird-wing motifs. The design blends diverse influences, including Japanese-style double beams and a unique pre-Reformation rood beam.

During a visit, you can view distinctly designed stained glass, including a magnificent blue-heart window. The church hall offers a tearoom and a display area featuring various artifacts, such as replicas of the famous Willow Tearooms chairs.
