Possil Marsh Nature Reserve
13 minute walk from Possilpark & Parkhouse station · Glasgow and West Central

Possil Marsh is a 31.4-hectare nature reserve and Site of Special Scientific Interest located on the north side of Glasgow. This triangular basin of fluvio-glacial origin features a shallow loch and is a rare surviving remnant of the vast loch and marsh systems that once covered West Central Scotland.
The reserve is historically significant as the site where the High Possil meteorite fell in 1804, an event now marked by a monument. Today, it serves as a vital bird sanctuary under the custodianship of the Scottish Wildlife Trust, protecting a diverse environment that includes the largest remaining fen and swamp habitats in the district.
Visitors can explore a rich landscape of birch scrubland and meadows, home to up to 150 bird species and nationally scarce plants like Lysimachia thyrsiflora. The area offers a chance to see a wide variety of wintering wildfowl and invertebrate fauna, providing a unique opportunity to experience Scotland's natural flora and fauna within an urban setting.
