Pavilion Theatre

The Pavilion Theatre is a historic Glasgow venue located on Renfield Street. Opened in 1904 as a music hall, it is one of the city's oldest theatres and currently stands as the only privately run theatre in Scotland. Now a protected category A listed building, the site remains an independent and unsubsidised icon of the British stage.

The building is celebrated for its luxurious "pure Louis XV" decor, featuring a French Renaissance facade and rich mahogany finishes. Visitors can admire the stunning Rococo plasterwork on the boxes and proscenium arch, as well as the unique electrically operated sliding roof panel. This storied stage has hosted legends ranging from Charlie Chaplin and Sarah Bernhardt to modern acts like The Mighty Boosh.

Today, guests can enjoy a diverse range of populist productions, including touring nostalgia bands, plays, and alternative comedians. The theatre is especially famous for its long-standing tradition of hosting vibrant Glasgow pantomimes. Whether attending a variety show or a headline comedy act, visitors experience a rich piece of theatrical history in a beautifully preserved 1,449-seat auditorium.
