Marischal College

Marischal College is a historic landmark in Aberdeen, originally founded in 1593 as an independent university. After merging with King’s College in 1860, it eventually transitioned from an academic site to the headquarters for the City Council. Today, it stands as the second largest granite building in the world.

The site is famous for its striking silver-white pinnacles and "granite cage" frontage. Notable features include the Mitchell Hall, which houses a large stained-glass window depicting the university’s history, and Greyfriars Church, which is uniquely incorporated into the college’s southern tower and spire.

Visitors can enjoy the impressive quadrangle and see a statue of King Robert the Bruce located just outside. The grounds also feature a modern "dancing fountain" with alternating patterns. While much of the interior provides office space, the building offers public access to services within its restored historic walls.
