Inverness Museum & Art Gallery

Inverness Museum and Art Gallery is a free-to-visit cultural hub located on Castle Wynd. Managed by High Life Highland, this museum presents the rich history and heritage of the Capital of the Highlands.

The museum is home to a significant Highland and Jacobite collection. Notable highlights include historic Stuart portraits, various Highland weapons, and Inverness silver. Visitors can also view Scottish artwork by Alexander Nasmyth and the unique taxidermy display of a puma captured in Inverness-shire in 1980.

The ground floor features displays on geology, natural history, and archaeology, including Pictish stones. On the first floor, guests can explore bagpipes and Jacobite memorabilia, or enjoy a rotating programme of temporary exhibitions. The complex also features a café for visitors to enjoy.
