Dudhope Castle

Dudhope Castle is an extended late medieval tower house located on the southern face of Dundee Law in Scotland. Originally built in the 13th century, it was later transformed into its current L-plan structure. Its history is inseparable from Dundee, having hosted royalty such as James V and James VI.
The site is significant for its diverse past, serving as a family home for centuries before becoming a military barracks for 400 soldiers. It has also functioned as a woollen factory and a business school. Notable features include the Scrimgeour room, which is decorated with clan tartans and wall hangings.
Visitors can explore the castle grounds, which were opened as a public park in 1895. The area once featured a daily time gun and recreational facilities. Today, the redeveloped castle remains a central part of the city, utilised for offices, training spaces, and community organisations.
