Tain & District Museum and Clan Ross Centre
4 minute walk from Tain station · Highlands and Argyll

Tain & District Museum is a volunteer-run heritage site in Ross-shire. Established in 1966, it forms part of the "Tain Through Time" visitor centre alongside the Old Collegiate Church and an old schoolhouse gallery.
The museum is home to a significant collection of 18th and 19th-century silver made in the local area. It also serves as the Clan Ross Centre, preserving clan history and assisting those researching their roots. Notable treasures include a 1492 papal bull and ancient Pictish carved stones, such as the Ardjachie Stone.
Visitors can explore rotating seasonal exhibits covering local Highland regiments and education. You can browse books and DVDs about Clan Ross or visit "The Pilgrimage" gallery to learn about King James IV’s historic journeys to Tain.
