Glenmorangie Distillery and Visitor Centre
34 minute walk from Tain station · Highlands and Argyll

Glenmorangie is a renowned Highland distillery located in Tain, Ross-shire, that specialises in the production of single malt Scotch whisky. The name is believed to derive from Gaelic terms meaning "vale of tranquillity" or "vale of big meadows." As a distinguished producer, it has been the best-selling single malt in Scotland almost continuously since 1983.
This historic site features a rich heritage, with alcohol production recorded at the location as early as 1703. It is famous for boasting the tallest stills in Scotland, which stand over 26 feet high to produce an extremely light taste. The distillery’s unique process traditionally relied on the expertise of a dedicated staff known as "The Men of Tain" and uses mineral-rich water from the local Tarlogie Springs.
Visitors can explore a diverse range of prestigious bottlings, including the 12-year-old Original, as well as 18- and 25-year-old expressions. You can learn about their specialised maturation process, which uses white oak casks and unique finishes in wine, port, or sherry barrels. The experience highlights award-winning spirits that have consistently earned top accolades at international competitions.
