King's Knot
14 minute walk from Stirling station · Stirling, Central and Fife · Free entry

The King's Knot is a royal pleasure ground located below Stirling Castle. Set within the ancient King’s Park, this Crown property dates back to at least the 1100s and once served as a venue for jousting, hawking, and hunting.
These former formal gardens feature impressive earthworks, including an octagonal stepped mound and a rectangular parterre. Remodelled for Charles I’s coronation in 1633 and restored under Queen Victoria, the site remains a significant piece of Scotland's royal history.
Visitors can roam the grounds year-round to explore the 3-meter-high mound. From the top, you can enjoy spectacular views of the royal castle towering overhead, offering a unique perspective on where monarchs once pursued their leisure interests.
