Kelvin Hall
15 minute walk from Partick station · Glasgow and West Central

Located on Argyle Street, Kelvin Hall is a historic mixed-use arts and sports venue in Glasgow’s West End. Opened in 1927, this immense red sandstone building is a Category B listed landmark. It stands as one of Britain’s largest exhibition centres and is designed to complement the nearby Kelvingrove Park.
The site is steeped in history, having hosted the 1951 Festival of Britain, world championship boxing, and legendary rock concerts by artists like Elton John and The Kinks. Once home to a famous circus and the Museum of Transport, the hall has evolved from a wartime barrage balloon factory into a modern cultural hub.
Today, visitors can enjoy a multi-million pound redevelopment featuring art, culture, and fitness activities. The venue hosts partnerships with the University of Glasgow and the National Library of Scotland. Visitors may also see evidence of its growing status as a media destination, with new facilities for TV and film production.
