Annan Town Hall is a Category B listed municipal building situated on the High Street in Annan. Completed in 1878, this Scottish baronial structure is built from striking red sandstone. Today, it serves as a central hub for the community, accommodating the local library and various local services.
The building is rich in heritage, featuring a symmetrical frontage and a prominent four-stage tower topped with a spire. Visitors can admire a bronze statue of Robert the Bruce, installed in 2010, which stands on the tower holding the Declaration of Arbroath. The interior is equally impressive, housing a clock manufactured by Potts of Leeds and beautiful stained glasswork by Adam & Small.
Inside, you can view a historic stone from the 12th century Mote of Annan, which commemorates the Bruce dynasty, located in the council chamber. The hall also displays fine art, including a painting by William Ewart Lockhart. Whether browsing the library or attending a meeting, you will experience a site that has been a cornerstone of local governance and history for centuries.
