Water of Leith: Balerno to Slateford

The Water of Leith Walkway is an urban walk running right through Edinburgh, starting at Balerno outside the city and finishing at the Port of Leith. We describe it in two parts; this first follows part of the line of an old railway beside the river from the village of Balerno, passing the fringes of Currie, Juniper Green and Colinton before taking to waterside paths through the sylvan Colinton Dell. The stage ends at Slateford which has good transport links.
