The Kelpies

The Kelpies are a pair of monumental steel horse-heads standing 30 metres high between Falkirk and Grangemouth. Designed by sculptor Andy Scott and completed in 2013, these 300-tonne structures form a dramatic gateway for the Forth and Clyde Canal.
These "proud equine guardians" celebrate the role of industry and agriculture in Scotland’s history. Inspired by Clydesdale horses, they represent mythological beasts possessing the strength of ten horses, acting as a contemporary monument to the heavy horses that once pulled wagons and barges.
Visitors can explore the surrounding parkland, known as the Helix, to marvel at the impressive stainless steel cladding. Positioned by a canal basin, these stunning sculptures offer a staggering transformation of the landscape that is both amazing and dramatic to behold.
