St. Conan's Kirk
14 minute walk from Loch Awe station · Highlands and Argyll

Located in the village of Loch Awe, St Conan's Kirk is a Category A listed building established by the Campbells of Innis Chonan. Designed by architect Walter Douglas Campbell, this former chapel of ease was voted one of the top ten Scottish buildings of the last century. It features an eclectic blend of styles ranging from ancient Roman to Norman, all constructed using local stone.
Visitors can explore a stunning interior featuring heavy oak beams believed to be from historic wooden battleships and granite boulders from Ben Cruachan. The Kirk houses three unique chapels, including the Bruce Chapel which contains a carved effigy of Robert the Bruce and a fragment of bone said to be his. You can also admire the canopied chancel-stalls, a re-used ancient window, and intricate metalwork gates.
