The Signal Tower Museum is situated in the coastal town of Arbroath. Built in 1813, this historic site originally served as the shore base for the Bell Rock Lighthouse. It once housed the keepers' families and the staff who operated the lighthouse tender.
The museum is named for its unique ball-and-pole signaling apparatus, once state-of-the-art technology for communicating with the lighthouse. Visitors can explore exhibits featuring a scale model of the Inchcape Rock, lighthouse light mechanisms, and local industries like jute processing and fishing.
Inside, you will find a collection of vintage Shanks lawnmowers and models of traditional fishing vessels. The museum also provides information on the surrounding area’s nature trails, offering a comprehensive look at the maritime and manufacturing heritage of Angus.
