The Scottish Maritime Museum in Irvine is an award-winning attraction that serves as the home to Scotland’s national maritime heritage collection. Located on Harbour Road, the museum is housed within the vast, historic Linthouse shipyard building, which is known as Scotland’s ‘Cathedral of Engineering.’
Visitors can explore a significant collection of historic vessels, including the harbour tug Garnock and the SY Carola, a steam yacht built in 1898. This unique site offers a chance to learn about the importance of maritime history and the people who built and sailed Scottish ships across the globe.
The museum provides a great day out with interactive games, seasonal activity trails, and workshops. Visitors can enjoy views over the River Irvine Estuary from Puffers Café Bistro or browse maritime-themed gifts in the Boatshop.
