Glenfinnan Monument
22 minute walk from Glenfinnan station · Highlands and Argyll

The Glenfinnan Monument is a Category A listed tower located in Lochaber. Designed by architect James Gillespie Graham and erected in 1814, this 59-foot structure is dedicated to the Scottish Highlanders who fought in the Jacobite rising of 1745.
It is a site of deep historical significance, commissioned by Alexander Macdonald to commemorate those who served under Charles Edward Stuart. A statue of an unknown Highlander, added in 1835, stands atop the tower. Today, the monument is cared for by the National Trust for Scotland.
Visitors can explore a dedicated visitor centre featuring exhibitions that detail the monument’s complex history and its links to Highland elites. The site also offers a shop and café, providing a space to reflect on the area’s heritage while enjoying the local landscape.
