Glen Ord Distillery

Glen Ord Distillery was originally founded in 1838 by Robert Johnstone and Donald MacLennan, on land once devoted to the cultivation of barley. Today, the distillery produces single malts for The Singleton of Glen Ord range and contributes whisky to world-famous Johnnie Walker blends.

This site is notable for its long history and award-winning spirits, having won titles for the best single malt at the International Wine and Spirit Competition and the Monde Selection. The distillery has also been a pioneer in technology, becoming the first company in the United Kingdom to adopt Biobed Modular Plant technology to treat wastewater.

Visitors can explore the site where water from the Cuckoo Well was once used for mashing and power was derived from large water wheels. The distillery offers public tours throughout the year on a seasonal schedule. During a visit, you can learn about the production of their 12, 15, and 18 year old single malts while experiencing the heritage of a Highland landmark.
