Five Sisters Zoo
22 minute walk from West Calder station · Edinburgh and South East

Five Sisters Zoo is a family-run attraction with a wide variety of animals from around the world. It's home to rescued bears and lions, alongside leopards, wolves, monkeys, reptiles, and many smaller species. The zoo is well known for its commitment to animal welfare and conservation, often providing sanctuary for animals in need. Paths wind through enclosures, with clear viewing points that bring visitors close to the animals. There are also picnic areas, a café, and indoor spaces for rainy days.
Note from the Zoo's website: "Please note that the walk from the train station to the zoo is just over a mile and takes approximately 15-20 minutes. Part of the walk leads onto country roads and there is no pavement for part of the route, coming from both directions."
