Black Watch Museum

The Black Watch Museum is housed within the historic Balhousie Castle. Originally built in 1631 and once the seat of the Earls of Kinnoull, this Scottish Baronial style castle now serves as the permanent home and headquarters for the regiment's extensive archive and heritage.

The museum is significant for showcasing the history of the Black Watch from 1739 to the present day. Visitors can explore a site that inspired artists, such as John Everett Millais, and see notable works like Frank Feller’s painting, "No Surrender," depicting the aftermath of a Boer War battle.

While exploring the restored castle, guests can view the original 17th-century rubble walls on the east side. The galleries offer a deep dive into military history, allowing visitors to experience the legacy of the regiment within a picturesque and authentically remodelled historic setting.
