# trainable > Discover places to visit in Scotland within walking distance of a train station — attractions, heritage sites, nature, and family days out, all reachable by rail. trainable.world helps tourists and residents find points of interest (POIs) within a 45-minute walk of any of Scotland's 365 train stations. Users filter by region, train station, activity type, walking time, and train journey time, and can switch between a card grid and a map view. Each POI lists its name, Creative Commons imagery, a description sourced from public/wiki resources, walking routes from nearby stations, official website, and whether entry is free or paid. The project is built on open and public sources: OpenStreetMap, Wikimedia, Wikipedia, UK rail-sector APIs, and user submissions. It is non-commercial in spirit, classless, and quietly demonstrates the social, economic, and environmental value of the rail network. Scotland is the launch region; GB and European coverage will follow. ## Pages - [Home](/): Discover places to visit by train across Scotland. - [Discover](/discover): Browse and filter all listed places by station, region, category, and walking time. - [Map](/discover/map): Explore stations and places visually on an interactive map. - [About](/about): The vision, mission, and ethos behind trainable. - [FAQ](/faq): Common questions about how trainable works. - [Feedback](/feedback): Suggest a place, report an issue, or share ideas. - [Contact](/contact): Get in touch with the trainable team. ## Optional - [Privacy](/privacy): How we handle data and cookies (GDPR/PECR compliant). - [Cookies](/cookies): Cookie policy and consent management. - [Terms](/terms): Terms of use. - [Sitemap](/sitemap.xml): Full machine-readable list of indexable URLs.
